The Unstoppable Church

The Unstoppable Church

Acts 5:12-42

“Kill us, torture us, condemn us, grind us to dust, the more you mow us down, the more we grow; the seed is the blood of Christians.” –Tertullian, as quoted in The Message of Acts, John R. W. Stott

1. Committing to truth is more important than pleasing others (Acts 5:12-16).

“The same sun which melts wax hardens clay. And the same gospel which melts some persons to repentance hardens others in their sins.” –Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Every time you hear the Word of God preached, you come away from that exposure to his truth either a little closer to God or a little further away from God, either more softened toward God or more hardened toward God. But you are never just the same.” (Ray Ortland, Isaiah: God Saves Sinners, p. 81).

2. Fixing our eyes on Jesus as the hero and not ourselves (Acts 5:17-32).

3. Following Jesus into suffering and not earthly success (Acts 5:33-42).
